  Tiptoe Across A Fragile Line

Alice K.

Unparalleled in guiding the reader through the narrative using a unique and very compelling voice, Alice crafts a story that drags you in and refuses to let you go until you reach the end. The character's thoughts and feelings are sprinkled through the excellent writing style, and everything leaves you with an imprint of your own emotion, as though you are there with the character. The dialogue is masterfully crafted, and perfectly placed. It flows very naturally, while telling the reader all they need to know about what is going on.

She also does an excellent job using and placing detail throughout the story, and engages all of the senses, making the reader experience everything the character is experiencing. There is also a generous amount of insight given into her inner narrative, which is much appreciated in making a connection with her and what is going on around her. It makes the story feel real, and organic.

Finally, I want to comment on the excellent use of tension in this story. It has a perfect build up and really becomes intense towards the second half. You hold your breath as you are reading, and it is refreshing to read something that is so emotionally involved.

There are too many favorite lines to pick out, but this one specifically stood out to me:

People loved to preach that the world shows you what you feed into it, but that was 𝐛𝐮𝐥𝐥𝐬𝐡𝐢𝐭. Breathe into others, what you expect to get back. Do unto others as you would have others do unto you. Right. — Again, I’m going to have to call 𝐛𝐮𝐥𝐥𝐬𝐡𝐢𝐭.

I will give this story a 10/10. Excellent piece.
